General Admission Guidelines

Students interested in studying engineering or engineering technology at the The University of Maine should excel in their math and science courses, in addition to other high school graduation requirements.

Admission criteria for the engineering majors typically require a senior level math through at least pre-calculus and two laboratory science courses, including physics. Admission criteria for the engineering technology majors typically require a senior level math through at least trigonometry and two laboratory science courses.

Students who need additional preparation may start in the College of Liberal Arts and Science’s pre-engineering program and change their major to one of the Engineering or Engineering Technology majors after satisfactory completion of the change of major application to the College of Engineering.
