Research Areas by Department

Each department has research and project-based facilities set up where students learn important principles about teamwork, engineering, and project management – as well as getting their hands dirty.

Research

The College of Engineering continues its initiatives in creating new areas of research contributing significantly to scientific discoveries and economic development in Maine and the nation. We are very proud of the outstanding research efforts of our faculty, staff, and our students that happen right here at the University of Maine College of Engineering. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching ranks nearly 4000 colleges based on teaching and research and has ranked the University of Maine as a high research university, among only 199 institutions nationwide.

Graduate Assistantships
Assessment of whether a research or teaching assistantship will be offered to a graduate student requires first the submission of a complete and documented application for admission.

After evaluating received graduate applications, most graduate assistantship offers are made by individual departments or research units. These units typically nominate their accepted applicants for any available university-wide assistantships.

Graduate students should fully avail themselves of the services of the Office of Student Financial Aid.
